Dear Media Colleagues
The Buffalo City Metro smart metering project has improved revenue and reduced queries on accounts to less than 10 percent since its rollout three years ago.
Since the project started, statistics show that the City’s electrify losses have dropped from 22.2% to 18% as at end February 2022.
This is mostly due to correct monthly billing and recovery of lost or stolen revenue.
The cutting-edge technology program has seen billing enquiries reduced down to 10 percent. All meters (both water and electricity) have to be changed smart meters by November 2024.
So confident are the City’s authorities that this week, the Metro is launching a face to face Thetha Nathi, Sixelele, Tell us campaign where it will be visiting communities in the evenings.
During these meetings, officials will plug computers at halls/ churches and resolve each billing enquiry on the spot.
