BUFFALO CITY MEDIA RELEASE: METRO TO HOST HIGH POWERED INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME

Dear Media Colleagues.

 

The Buffalo City Metro will be holding a high-powered International Women’s Day programme, this Thursday, in an effort to empower women young and elderly women across the Metro.

 

The event will be in the form of a panel discussion under the theme is #BreakTheBias: A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

 

Panellists include Hon. Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, Minister of Small Business Development; Hon. Helen Sauls-August, Speaker of the EC Legislature and Hon. Nomakhosazana Meth, EC MEC of Health.

 

The Municipality has set aside this day to recognize the extraordinary acts of women in order to stand together, as a united force, to advance gender equality around the world.

 

Messages of support will be delivered by BCM Executive Mayor Cllr Xola Pakati, Border Kei Chamber of Business CEO Lizelle Maurice, the BCM Women’s Caucus Clara Morolong-Yekiso, leadership of SRC and the Young Women’s Desk.

 

As per event theme, the aim is to critically reflect on women accomplishments and to strive for a greater momentum towards gender equality worldwide.

 

Attendees include all tertiary institutions in BCM, churches, NGO’s, the Youth Council, Women in Parliament and the Masimanyane Women’s Support.
