GEOGRAPHICAL NAME CHANGE- EXTENSIOIN OF SUBMISSION

EXTENSION OF SUBMISSION PERIOD FOR METRO GEOGRAPHICAL NAME CHANGE APPLICATIONS -
DEADLINE: 30 JUNE 2026
The Eastern Cape Provincial Geographical Names Committee (ECPGNC) in collaboration with the Metropolitan
Geographical Names Committee (MGNC), has extended the deadline for public submissions on the proposed
standardization of place names in the BCMM area to 30 June 2026. Tall submissions must follow the procedures
set out in the South African Geographical Names Council Act, 1998 (Act 118 of 1998) and its Regulations.
Members of the public, individually and/or collectively, are invited to propose a name or rename a feature
using an official application available from the Department of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, and can be
accessed at the following venues and municipality’s website which is www.buffalocity.gov.za:
