WATER, CLIMATE CHANGE TAKES CENTRE STAGE AS GERMAN COUNTERPARTS VISIT THE METRO
The City of Oldenburg from Germany is currently visiting the Metro to discuss water related issues in the City.

On 29 November 2012, Buffalo City Metro signed a partnership agreement with the City of Oldenburg as part of the Renewable Energy programme which is funded by the Engagement Global.
The Buffalo City and the City of Oldenburg climate partnership forms part of the broader twinning arrangement of both cities.
Speaking about the program Samantha Westphal from Oldenburg said: “The main focus areas for the joint program includes Water Management due to water being a scarce and threatend resource due to climate change."
Westphal listed the main focus areas of the program as being:
• Energy: due to demand that is not met and the need to explore greener solutions
• Waste Management: due to challenge experienced with waste management and its current negative impact on safe and healthy environment
• Environmental Education for sustainable development which is required for water, energy and waste mamagement in order to change people's thinking on climate change  and environment
Our twinning City guests are in town for a week long visit from 7-14 May 2022.
