The Basic Quality Verification programme also gave young people an opportunity in a form of training and transfer of skills as verifiers to assess the homestays in the City for quality assurance, hygiene and safety of guests in the registered establishments.
Mayoral Committee Portfolio Head for Infrastructure Cllr. Sindile Toni welcomed the guests at the launch. One of the trainee verifiers, Aphiwe Magwa said she was happy with the opportunity.
Homestay owner Zelda Citwa heaped praise on the assitance in the form of trainings and equipment they received from BCMM Economic Development and Agencies in improving their establishments to give quality service to their guests.
Speaking at the launch, Citwa said: “I saw a gap in terms of accommodation starting back with the International Arts Festival in Makhanda and opened my home to visitors and made them feel at home."
