NEW MULTIPURPOSE BUILT DISASTER MANAGEMENT VEHICLES
The Metro added two new vehicles to assist the City's Disaster Management to respond to disasters promptly in all regions of the Metro.

MMC for Public Safety and Emergency Services Amanda Mnyute said: "By providing these vehicles to the unit, we are enforcing our commitment to the people of the Metro".
"These vehicles are specialised for Disasters, enabling the team to capture assessments without leaving the disaster site," she added.
Giving the purpose of the day, HOD for Public Safety and Emergency Services Boniswa Mzimba said "Today was a culmination of a vision to ensure that the Disaster Management Centre is well equipped by handing over specialised vehicles to the centre in order for them to enhance disaster response capacity". "We are in the process of procuring more specialised vehicles for the centre in the 2025/26 financial year," Mzimba said.
The total cost for both these specialised vehicles was R1.8 million.
