CITY HANDS OVER 50 HOUSES IN PEELTON
BCMM Executive Mayor Cllr. Princess Faku accompanied by the MMC for Solid Waste and Environmental Management Cllr. Clara Morolong-Yekiso officially handed over 50 houses in Peelton to provide decent quality houses for the Citizens of the Metro.

The main purpose of the handover is to restore the dignity of the most vulnerable, the low-income earners, destitute, vulnerable families including elderly, disabled, child headed families and unemployed by providing them with decent quality houses.

The area of Peelton was earmarked for housing development in 2013, however due to the vast number of the Peelton villages this then necessitated that Peelton be clustered into three cluster projects.

The Peelton housing project entails the construction of 278 units in Mdange area which is Cluster 1, 653 units for Majali and Nkqonkqweni area which is Cluster 2 and 598 units for Drayini , Esixekweni, kwa -Train and Empengempengeni.

Speaking during the handover BCMM Executive Mayor Cllr Faku said: "It has been government’s efforts, from the dawn of democracy to see our people benefiting from government initiatives and to make sure that they have shelter and government services are provided to them."
