CLLR PRINCESS FAKU IS THE NEW EXECUTIVE MAYOR OF THE CITY
Councillor Princess Faku was elected as the new Mayor of Buffalo City Metro during the Special Council meeting on Thursday evening 23 March 2023.

Cllr Faku takes over from Cllr Xola Pakati who resigned on Monday 20 March.

Delivering her acceptance speech during the meeting, BCMM New Executive Mayor said, “I duly accept the responsibility bestowed in me by the municipal council as the Executive Mayor of Buffalo City Metro to serve the people of Buffalo City Metro with humility.”

“I accept the responsibility to lead with the collective leadership to change the lives of people of Buffalo City, mindful of the progress made since the Election of this Political Administration in November 2021. May I also take this opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to the outgoing Executive Mayor, Cllr Xola Pakati for his contribution in the development of our City,” said Faku.

“Today, we declare zero tolerance on incompetency. As public officials we must be accountable. Our people expect us to put their interest first. We commit to do just exactly that.“

“We must restore public confidence by doing the right things,” she said.
