NO MORE MAKESHIFT STRUCTURES FOR MDANTSANE INFORMAL TRADERS


The Bizniz in a Box initiative is a social responsibility by CCBSA to reduce unemployment. The initiative aims at creating an ecosystem of viable micro-business offering complementary products and services in a community using spaza shops as anchors. 

About 25 women and one male benefitted   from the initiative.  Five mobile fridges were handed over. 

Speaking at the handover Portfolio Head for LED Mawethu Marata urged the beneficiaries to look after the structures. 

"You must take care of the facilities and your customers and we will do our part in making sure that we grow the economy of Mdantsane, " said Marata. 

Talking about the programme Regional CSI Specialist Buseka Adonis said : "The Bizniz in a box started 2015 all over the country.  In the Eastern Cape , however, it started in 2018 in Gqeberha." 

She said the programme  was in line with the National Development Plan to revive township economy and address youth unemployment in the townships. The initiative has now has been extended to women who already have operating small businesses.
