Strong winds forecast for Buffalo City Metro
The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has warned Buffalo City residents that gale winds with gusts up to 80 km/hour could be experienced on Wednesday 24 July.

The public is then advised to take care of items that could pose risk to them and their surroundings. Tents, gazebos, plastic dirt bins and any other loose item must be properly secured or stowed away. Due to strong winds there have been a number of incidents in the Metro. Motorists are warned that in Mdantsane near the NU 11 Rent Office there is a tree blocking the road and are advised to use alternative roads. In Amalinda a traffic light is hanging on the Main Road. A Telkom pole is hanging at Gleneagle Road in Stirling. An electric cable at the corner of Moore and Fitzpatrick Roads is hanging. There was a fire shack at East Bank last night, temporary structures have blown down in Amalinda and a tree fell on a house in Duncan Village. Technicians attending to electricity wires down in the Nahoon/Bonnie Doon and Duncan Village areas. Massive power surges in Elvin Factory, Brooklyn Rd, Woodbrook. There are also power outages in the Phakamisa, Nahoon in Stanmore Road, Arcadia in Dyer Street, Vincent - Malin Road, Cambridge in Cunningham Avenue, Cambridge West in Griffin Road, Gonubie in 14th Avenue, Bonnie Doon in Willasdale Drive, Amalinda in Fairbank Road and Berea in Castle Street. Residents are also asked to look out for falling tree branches, damaged powerlines must be reported to 043 050 5683 and must not be approached until it is safe to do so. Other emergencies may be reported to the Fire Brigade 043 705 9000.
