Presidency monitors COVID-19 vaccine rollout programme at Frere Hospital
Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Thembi Siweya, visits the Covid-19 vaccination site at Frere Hospital as part of the Government’s strategy in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

The purpose of the visit is to assess the progress made by the implementation of the vaccine rollout programme. The Deputy Minister in the Presidency Thembi Rhulani Siweya was accompanied by the Buffalo City Executive Deputy Mayor Helen Neale-May, the Eastern Cape MEC Health Nkosazana Meth and other Provincial delegates.

According to the Covid-19 Vaccination update provided by the Eastern Cape Health Department, a three-phased approach will be adopted to vaccinate at least 4.5 million people in the province.
Phase one includes health care and patient facing workers including porters and cleaners. 
Phase two includes essential workers and persons in clustered settings including hotels and prisons. 
Phase three includes the rest of the Eastern Cape subject to vaccine contra-indications.
