The first workshop was held at War Memorial Hall, in eQonce on Thursday 25 July 2025. Council Speaker, Cllr Humphrey Maxhegwana said these trainings were imperative for improving service delivery. "We are all here to serve the needs of the people. When you are elected to serve people, you must do so with an open heart," he added. "We have elected Ward Committee who Members fall under the Speaker's office, and we rely on both them and Ward Councillors to work closely together and bring matters to our attention," said Maxhegwana. In closing, Maxhegwana said: "We have invited guests who will impart knowledge on Local Government to you, to help you do your jobs with better understanding." Representatives from COGTA gave a detailed presentation on Ward Operational Plans, informing the ward committee members of their roles and responsibilities. The trainings will continue in the Midland and Coastal Regions. On 31 July 2024 the workshop will be at Braelyn Hall then move to East London City Hall on 01 August 2024. The last one will be held at NU10 Community Hall on 02 August 2024
