ANTI-CORRUPTION CAMPAIGN
As part of the preventative efforts in the fight against corruption in public sector, the Buffalo City Metro Risk Management unit together with other government departments hosted an Anti-corruption workshop to promote good governance.

Welcoming everyone during the workshop, Acting City Manager Nceba Ncunyana said, "Today we welcome you all to this insightful, interesting, informative, interactive workshop."

"The workshop falls under the initiative of the Local Government Anti-Corruption Strategy to curb corruption in our government Departments."

"The fight against corruption is one of the key pillars and a priority area of our back to basics strategy."

Various external stakeholders that include National & Provincial Treasury, COGTA, Office of the Premier, Hawks, Office of the Public Protector attended and facilitated the workshop.

Speaking about this initiative, Alpheus Ndou from Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs said, " The aim of the Local Government Anti Corruption Strategy is to address and ensuring that there are serious consequences for corruption, fraud and maladministration."

"We are here to raise awareness and we are targeting all the Metros. Municipalities are perceived to be the hub of corruption,"

"fraud and corruption has become one of the main issues occupying the public discourse."

"Government has prioritised the fight against corruption in the public and the private sector," he said.

During the workshop, individuals were given a opportunity to comment and ask questions based on fraud and corruption.

The workshop took place on Tuesday 16th August 2022 at The Venue Hemmingways Mall.
