Clean hands, safe communities, promoting handwashing and rabies prevention programme was held at Ward 11 clinic. 

Handwashing and rabies prevention are essential publichealth practices that help reduce the spread of infectious diseases and prevent avoidable deaths. 

While proper hand hygiene protects individuals from common illnesses such as diarrhea, respiratory infections, awareness of rabies prevention is critical because rabies remain fatal but preventable disease transmitted through the bites or scratches of infected animals.

Highlighting the purpose of the day Municipal Health Services Manager for midland region Simamkele Gqaliwe said, “we are here today to educate you as the community of nu5 on the importance of regular handwashing and effective rabies prevention measures, this will also help improve health outcomes and reducing disease transmission.” 

It is important to educate communities about rabiestransmission, symptoms, and prevention
they were also encouraged to immediately seek medical attention following animal bites or scratches. Pet owners were also taught their responsibilities on vaccination of dogs and cats. 

The session culminated with a vaccination of dogs in the community.
