EAST BANK TREATMENT WORKS PLANT RECEIVES AN UPGRADE
Acting Executive Mayor Cllr Yomelela Tyali switched on the upgraded monitoring equipment and turned the sod for the Infrastructure upgrades at the East Bank Treatment Works on Tuesday, 21 May 2024.

Through this project, the treatment works will improve existing infrastructure, treatment capacity and use 100 KW Solar Energy.

It will reuse water through Biogas, Membrain Biological Reactor System (MBR System) and Sand Filters.

The multi- million rand project will be done in a space of two years and it will commence in July 2024 until July 2026.

Speaking the event Cllr Tyali said upgrades such as these were important for improving the state of affairs in the City.

Representative of the State of Lower Saxony to the Eastern Cape, Inger Steffen said: "We believe that municipal partnerships are a very important tool to provide knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer because they work locally and have a direct impact on people's lives."

Buffalo City Metro and the City of Oldenburg partnership forms part of the broader twinning arrangement of both cities.

The main focus area for the Joint Programme of Action developed by both partners focuses on water management, greener solutions, waste management, and environmental education for sustainable development.
