He was speaking at briefing session by the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature with councillors from Qonce about the upcoming programme next week. The Standing Committee for Public Participation Petitions and Education visited Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) for a follow-up briefing session with the political leadership on the upcoming Taking Legislature to the People programme as both institutions prepare to mobilise the public to attend. Two other briefing sessions were held on Tuesday with the coastal and midlands areas. The Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Participation, Petitions and Education, MPL Mlibo Qoboshiyane outlined the upcoming Taking Legislature to the People Programme to the city next week. The following reports will be tabled and debated: -COGTA -Human Settlements -Social Development -Agriculture -Economic Development & Tourism -Community Safety Taking Legislature to the People is an oversight and public participation programme that is hosted by the Legislature on an annual basis and is this year scheduled to take place in East London at the ICC from 21 to 24 October 2025 with 700 members of the public from BCMM wards expected to attend on each day (21-23 Oct). The Programme affords citizens a platform to raise their concerns or challenges on service delivery in their own wards. Only residents will be allowed to address Members of the Legislature during the course of the programme.
