These include projects in the East London and Mdantsane area include:

  • Settlers Way

One of the commencing projects that will be a hive of construction activities is the Settlers Way enroute to the East London Airport.

The work to be undertaken is the instillation of a 600mm stormwater pipes along Settlers Way between Chester Road and Camden Road, and the location of existing services along Settlers Way.

There may be other works taking place along the road in preparation for the main contract to commence.

The current works will be located off the road, and will have a low impact on traffic.

There will be advanced warnings along the road and traffic management in place for the duration of the construction activities.

  • Sleeper Site

Another road construction commencing is the multi million rands Sleeper Site project in the Quigney area. This has an impact motorists coming into town from the North East Expressway.

Traffic coming from NEX will be diverted via the one way traffic around eastern cape motors. Motorists are advised to use alternative coming back from town as commercial road will be turned to one way traffic at the intersection with NEX due to works being undertaken on the section in front of Eastern Cape Motors.

  • Mdantsane

In Mdantsane, construction will also resume on the Qumza Highway and as this is the main road, an alternative bypass has been created.

Major works will start in front of the Sasol Garage and traffic will be moved to the new completed roads works by mid June 2020.

We urge motorists to exercise caution and those returning to work on Monday to take into account the possible delays in their planning.
