This week kicked off with a clean up campaign at Gillwell Precinct, East London aimed to enhance urban aesthetics by tackling gutter debris, litter picking and street sweeping.
Welcoming the guest at the campaign, BCMM Ward 47 Councillor Funeka Sarah Wolose said: “We appeal to the community to join hands with us in maintaining a clean and healthy environment by properly utilising the dustbins around the City and refraining from littering on streets.”
BCMM Solid Waste Acting General Manager Nosisa Tshika said: “Recycling is a collective responsibility that transcends financial boundaries and therefore we encourage everyone to join in, collect papers, bottles, plastics and more to create a cleaner greener world.”
The clean up was also dedicated to collecting recyclables. All recyclables were collected by the Commercial Road Buy Back Centre team and the voucher for the collected recyclables was donated to Salem Baby Centre.
