The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) Refresher Workshop is hosting a two-day workshop, bringing together MPAC members and officials for discussions on oversight, accountability, financial management and effective municipal governance.
MPAC Chairperson Dr Mike Basopu opened the workshop with welcoming remarks and outlined the objectives of the programme.
“This workshop provides an important opportunity to strengthen our understanding of the MPAC mandate and ensure that we are well equipped to fulfil our oversight responsibilities effectively.”
Today’s programme covers the MPAC mandate, MPAC Toolkit, Section 79A of the Municipal Structures Act and the Committee’s Draft Terms of Reference with presentations and discussions facilitated by the Eastern Cape Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (EC COGTA).
The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight, accountability and good governance within Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
