Energy Day and School shoes Handover
On Wednesday 17 April, the Minister of Energy Jeff Radebe hosted a School Energy Day and handed over 300 pairs of shoes to the needy learners of the Metro.

Speaking during the occassion, BCMM Executive Mayor Xola Pakati said, "We are very thankful to the Minister for choosing our City as a venue for this important event and we are confident that it will have a long-lasting impact in benefiting our learners and broadly to the people of the Metro." Delivering his key note address, Minister of Energy Jeff Radebe described the occassion as an effective platform to engage young people of the City on career opportunities in the energy sector, bursaries, human capital programs and general energy information that can help in attracting them to the energy sector." "The Department recognised that there is a need to nurture young people to fulfill their career development in the energy sector," said Radebe. "We need skills to drive our economy. Take education seriously more especially scarce skills like Science, Engineering and Maths," he added. During the occassion, the learners were also given an opportunity to engage with the department to learn more about the various forms of energy and their importance to the economic development of our country.
