TOUCHING LIVES IN NCERHA AND DUNCAN VILLAGE
On Friday, 19 April 2024 the Buffalo City Metro hosted the Minister of Social Development, Minister Lindiwe Zulu on a community outreach programme.

The purpose of Minister Zulu's outreach programme was to hand over a mobile office facility to the Ihlumelo Foundation which is a youth organisation based in Duncan Village and also hand over the Ncera Information Resource Centre, a bore hole, water storage tanks and a solar-powered water pump donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

During the programme at Ncerha Village, the Buffalo City Executive Mayor Cllr. Princess Faku handed over a boxing ring and equipment that will be utilised by boxing clubs within ward 31, 32 and 33.

Speaking at the ribon-cutting ceremony , Faku said "We had an IDP process where we promised the people of ward 31, 32 and 33 a boxing ring as per their request. As we all know Buffalo City is the home of boxing".

"We are here today to fulfill that promise, handing over this boxing ring. We put the safe guarding of this ring to ward councillors, hoping that they will work with this community centre," said Faku.

Thanking the metro, ward 31 councillor Cllr. Bangani said they were appreciative of the ring. "This ring will be utilised by the youngsters to take them away from drug abuse and also help them sharpen their boxing skills".
