The Buffalo City Metro is still encouraging communities to make submissions on its draft Integrated Development Plan and Budget.

The Metro engaged communities virtually last week as part of the Integrated Development Plan and Budget roadshows. During the interactive roadshows, Buffalo City Metro executive Mayor Councilor Xola Pakati presented the draft document highlighting plans for each and every ward.

The roadshows were broadcast live on various community radio stations reaching an estimated listenership of close to 150 000 people.

The shows were also simultaneously streamed on social media platforms and thus far the social media audience reach is 11 739 for the Coastal roadshow; 5717 reached for the Inland roadshow; and 8019 reached for the Midland roadshow.

The WhatsApp line has thus far received more than 150 messages and voice notes from different stakeholders across all wards.

Some of the main issues raised were around billing, accounts, roads, housing, sports fields and bridges.

Communities can still access the draft IDP and Budget and make submissions.

The Metro is still requesting all citizens to access the draft Revised Integrated Development Plan and the tabled Budget for on the municipal website: www.buffalocitymetro.gov.za AND municipal libraries.

The documents will be available for inspection at the locations indicated within five working days after the Council meeting, as per legal requirements.

Communities are also encouraged to observe the IDP and Budget presentations through the various online and radio platforms.

These submissions will be considered at a Council meeting on 25 May 2022 and during the State of the City Address.
