MUSIC, dance and laughter get us into the swing of 2012 at the Guild Theatre in Selborne.
First up, for one night only, Centrestage Extravaganza is on tonight. It is two-and-a-half hours of entertainment, comprising highlights and special moments from Centrestage hit shows.
It starts at 6.30pm. There is also half-an-hour of highlights of the new production, The Beach Boys Summer Party.
Expect foot-tapping music from well-known pop and rock bands, including The Bee Gees, Neil Diamond, Elvis, Strictly Partytime, The Vintage Rockers, Big Voice Big Heart, and The Good, The Band and the Ugly.
The line-up features a variety of musicians and guest artists who have become household names in East London over the past few years, including Alan Kozak, Thuba Myeki, Jace Bowren, Wayne Kallis and Will Jenson.
"The multi-talented Andre Strydom takes a turn as Neil Diamond and sings the falsetto of Barry Gibb in a special Bee Gees segment too," says the theatre.
Donna Africa and Myeki will showcase a range of cabaret highlights big band and party songs they have developed over the last few years of corporate performances countrywide.
"The show is anticipated to give music lovers a night to remember." Tickets are available at the theatre ticket box for R110 and R95 for a group of four. Concessions are R85.
Then for one night only, South African comedian Barry Hilton will trade jokes with New Zealand's Mike King in the laugh-out-loud South Zealand New Africa.
It's on Monday, 30 January at 6.30pm. The theatre says King is known for his entertaining, candid and thought-provoking comedy. "He has been working for over 17 years as a comedian and has performed at international festivals and numerous New Zealand TV shows."
Hilton, of course, needs no introduction to local audiences.
Bookings for the show can be made at the theatre box office, with tickets costing R110 each, concessions for students and pensioners are R85 while tickets for groups of four or more are R95 each.
