WARM up your winter nights with gospel or rock and roll, or perhaps a bit of comedy with the always hilarious Marc Lottering, at the Guild Theatre.
The theatre’s winter line-up kicks off with Lottering’s smash-hit comedy,
Naughty Forty – The Return. In it, Lottering talks about some of his experiences, and gives his opinions on a variety of topics, such as television presenters with attitude, intimacy after 40 and people who refuse to turn off their cellphones.
It’s all about hitting the big four-oh, and about his maturity and confidence as an artist.
Naughty Forty – The Return runs from 3 to 6 June at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at the box office for R70 each. No under-18s allowed, though.
Next in the season is a tribute show by the Vagabonds of Rock ‘n Roll. The group pays tribute to a diverse range of music legends, from Meatloaf, The Doors, David Bowie and Queen to Bon Jovi, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones, Culture Club, Robert Palmer, Frank Zappa and Ozzy Osbourne.
The show allows the individual personalities of band members to come out through strong performances of the songs of these music greats.
Running from 9 to 13 June, tickets range in price from R115 to R125 each, and are available at the box office.
The month wraps up with a gospel music show presented by Di Wilson. Entitled
Dear Treasure, Come Home it runs from 18 to 21 June.
Wilson brings together a group of multi-talented people from 15 local churches, all under one roof. They sing hymns ranging from
All Creatures of Our God and King,
Nearer My God To Thee and
How Great Thou Art to
The Morning Breaks and other traditional hymns.
The show starts at 7pm during the week and at 2pm and 7pm on Saturday.
Tickets are R30 for adults and R20 for learners and pensioners.
