The address, on Friday, 31 July, will kick off with the inauguration at the East London City Hall, at 8am. Presiding over the inauguration will be the Speaker of the council, Luleka Simon.

In her speech, Faku is expected to unpack issues of service delivery, performance management and development while raising aspects that will be the priority this financial year.
According to a press release issued by the City, Faku is expected to set the tone and direction for service delivery for the next financial year.
The proceedings will include a guard of honour at the City Hall, with the mayor and her entourage scheduled to hoist the national flag to the national anthem afterwards.
The public is invited to mark this important City day. Delegates expected at the event include members of various political parties, business owners, representatives of state-owned companies, dignitaries from all spheres of government and the public.

Born in the Tsolo area of Duncan Village in East London, Faku has served in various positions of council, including Speaker of council for Buffalo City in 2000. She moved to Amathole District Municipality in 2006 before returning to her home town.
