THE Guild Theatre will keep the temperatures up this June, with serious dialogue and politics jostling for space with rollicking rock and roll.
Kicking off this year's winter season is Dialogue; a collaboration between the Daily Dispatch newspaper and the University of Fort Hare.
"This is a dialogue with ANC MP and former deputy health minister Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge," said a statement from the Guild Theatre. Madlala-Routledge brought attention to the poor conditions at Frere Hospital's post-natal unit.
Dialogue is on 3 June, followed by a blues and rock 'n roll show called Humble Man on 6 June.
"Colin Clur, Greg Clur and Tich Wild along with some very special friends will be presenting some more of their unique brand of blues and rock 'n roll. The show promises not to disappoint as they dig deep down into their roots and come up with fresh interpretations of some old, new, borrowed and blue material."
Rock band Niemand then takes centre stage, performing songs from the newest album, This is War, on 7 June. Following Niemand will be Toast, a one-man show featuring Gino Fabbri.
The Daily Dispatch and the University of Fort Hare is back to finish off the month with another Dialogue, this time featuring the former ANC MP and author of the book, After the Party, Andrew Feinstein. The book traces his journey through the ANC, and focuses on the arms deal.
