THREE awards are adding to Buffalo City’s trophy case, after it won one gold and two silvers at the annual Professional Management Review.africa (PMR) awards.
PMR.africa, the magazine, undertakes annual surveys of all of South Africa’s provinces and neighbouring countries like Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana, Lesotho, Zambia and Swaziland. The aim of these surveys is to showcase companies, government departments, and people perceived as contributors to a specific area’s economic growth and development.

The latest awards were held in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro last week. To ensure transparency, Eastern Cape businesses and senior local and provincial government officials were interviewed during the survey. The City was nominated in three categories, winning gold and two silvers.
In the category for cities or towns doing most to attract foreign investment, it won gold. This category was rated by the province’s businesses and local government departments.
In the category for the most pro-active mayor in the province, Executive Mayor Zintle Peter received a silver award. The City also scooped a silver award in the category cities or towns doing the most to fight crime, attract local investment and create jobs.
Peter was at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro to receive the awards on behalf of Buffalo City.
