EAST Londoners will warm themselves to some laughter in July as funnymen Mark Sampson and Marc Lottering perform at the Guild Theatre.
Kicking off the comedy showcase will be Mark Sampson with his ‘Feels Funny’ comic exploration of the ups and downs of life; the show features a giant game of snakes and ladders and a meter wide inflatable dice.
Talking about the show Sampson says: “This isn’t stand-up as you’ve ever seen it before; it’s more like a scratch –n-sniff interactive pop-up-book for grown ups.”
Guild Theatre manager Zane Flanagan says that the show is not just a middle-aged man with a teenage hair-do playing a kid’s game. “It’s a helter-skelter tumble through the kaleidoscopic twists of Mark’s mind, as he reflects on life, from first love to last rites, dodging sharks and stroking whales along the way,” says Flanagan
This show also gives the audience a chance to tell the comedian what to do; resulting in each show being different depending on the roll of the dice.
Feels Funny starts at 7pm on Friday 11 July and to enjoy the show East Londoners will have to pay R55.
Following Sampson will be comedian Marc Lottering with his show ‘Naughty Forty’. “Marc Lottering has just turned 40 and has a few things to get off his chest; these include mid-life crisis, death, undertakers, debt and love making techniques for over forties.”

The Ugly Duckling is on at the Guild Theatre from Thursday 24 July to Saturday 26 July.
Lottering performed the show in Cape Town at the end of 2007 and went on a successful tour of Australia. To see the show that will show at the Guild from Monday 14 July to Wednesday 16 July, theatre lovers will pay R60.
After the laughs, dance lovers will have a chance to see a local breakdance competition on Saturday 19 July. This show will be followed by The Ugly Duckling, an East London Youth Ballet presentation in collaboration with the Cape Town City Ballet. The show starts on Thursday 24 July and ends on Saturday 26 July.
