King Williams Town community support centre
19 October 2007
Executive Mayor Zintle Peter will be officially opening the King William's Town Community Support Centre (CSC) on Saturday, 20 October 2007. The handing over of the R1, 1 million project forms part of the ongoing Mayoral Imbizo programme.
The project, which is funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) aims to take government closer to the people by providing a range of services at the doorsteps of local people. The King William's Town CSC is the first of three centres to be opened.
With a need for more integrated service delivery, in 2005, the municipality undertook to implement this project so that it could increase channels of communication and also empower local people to take part in the developmental process.
The new centre which is attached to the civic centre and in close proximity to the business centre in King Williams Town will provide a youth advisory desk, a HIV/Aids Desk, Disabled / Gender & Elderly Support, a Computer Lab, Customer Care Office, Meeting room and Information office.
The centre will compliment the current services rendered at the civic centre.
