Employee awards ceremony for BCM

1 November 2007

Employee excellence will be rewarded when Buffalo City Municipality hosts its first ever outstanding performance awards at the East London City Hall on Friday, 2 November 2007.

Themed the “Night among the Africa Stars” and introduced by the municipal manager Gaster Sharpley, the awards ceremony seeks to recognise the efforts and achievements of employees who have performed outstandingly in carrying out their roles and responsibilities.

The awards also form part of management’s strategy to motivate and encourage staff towards excellence in service delivery and aligns to the principle of the city’s human resources retention strategy.

Another aim is to promote good working relations between management and staff, at the same time encouraging information sharing, behavioural changes and improving skill.

However, the ultimate goal is to improve the mindset and encourage staff to have more passion and drive, epitomising the Batho Pele principles of putting people first leading to better service delivery to the communities and the city’s partners.

Some of the nomination categories for the awards ceremony include; employee of the year and municipal manager’s award.
