SOME of the best artists in East London are taking part in the popular annual Peep Show at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery.
Hosted by the East London Art Society, the Peep Show opens on Thursday, 23 August. It is an exhibition of works in miniature.
"Miniatures often have a jewel-like quality to the finished work," explained gallery curator Leon du Preez. "The painting of minute intricacies and the use of delicate and detailed painting techniques are features of these artworks."
Du Preez said that artists from East London and surrounding areas would take part in the two-week exhibition.
"We have artists from Mdantsane showing off their skills in this annual event; we also have artists from Walter Sisulu University taking part as well. The exhibition is very inclusive and showcases the best art the city has to offer."
The "usual suspects", like Barry Gibb, would also have work in the Peep Show.
Paintings and sculptures submitted for the show should not be bigger than an A5 format.
The Peep Show is at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery from Thursday, 23 August to Saturday, 8 September. It is at 9 St Marks Road, Belgravia, East London. For more information, contact the gallery on 043 722 4044.
