TALKING about the Project Consolidate funded Kiosks, the city's communications manager Darby Gounden said that according to the access to information Act, citizens needed to have better access to information.
"With these Kiosks we want to make information more readily available for our people; we want to put information publications in our municipal buildings," said Gounden.
She said the city would launch a pilot project soon and look at the response of the people to the Kiosks.
"We want to look at how people respond, and then as the demand for more publications grows, we will produce more information brochures. We will also run a questionnaire that will help us ascertain what kind of information people want in our Kiosks," Gounden said
Information on these brochures will range from what local government is; education on electricity and vandalism, stop street and new circles. "We will also have information on sanitation and project consolidate and its benefits. People will also learn about the credit control policy and how they can apply for the indigent subsidies."
Also included in the Kiosks would be brochures from the Tourism Buffalo City on places to visit and information on the city's building plans.
For the Kiosks to be accessible to the citizens Gounden said they [Kiosks] would be placed at municipal pay halls and buildings.
"However, in future we want to see if we can't have them in shopping malls and municipal entities. But now we will put them in our entry points and our community support centers."
