LOCAL government elections went off without a hitch across Buffalo City on Wednesday, 1 March.
In places like Duncan Village residents young and old made sure they had their say, voting at the polling stations at Gompo Community Hall and the Roman Catholic Church Hall in C-Section.
Explaining why they were casting their ballots, some residents pointed to services like electricity and water, while others wanted houses. Most, however, were concerned about employment and earning enough to look after their families.
Some enterprising youngsters made the most of business opportunities available at the polling stations, selling snacks to voters as they queued for the polling booth.
The day also went smoothly in Mdantsane, Beacon Bay, Gonubie and King William's Town, with a large turnout of voters.
Buffalo City mayor Sindisile Maclean cast his vote at the King William's Town city hall.
