THE Ann Bryant Art Gallery is holding an exhibition of the work of one of East London's oldest and most respected artists, Ivan Vincent.
The exhibition, which opened on Thursday, March 9, will be a retrospective of Vincent's work.
A retired architect who studied art at the Buffalo City FET College, Vincent says the exhibition will include some of his older paintings.
"The exhibition is more of a tribute," he explains. "The gallery curator approached me and said that he wanted to do a retrospective of my work sometime this year. I was very surprised but I'm a happy to have received the opportunity to exhibit this year."
Talking about his style, Vincent says he likes painting the beautiful sites in East London. "When I could still move around freely, I used to go to beautiful places and start painting; I don't enjoy painting by just looking at photographs."
Some of the sites he has painted, using his favourite medium of watercolours, include the Gonubie River mouth, the Nahoon Krans and the Nahoon Reef.
The exhibition closes on Saturday, March 25. For more information contact the gallery on 043 722 4044 or visit the Ann Bryant Art Gallery website.
