BUFFALO City Executive Mayor, Zintle Peter will grace hospitals around the city to spread a message of hope to children as part of her goodwill programme.

During this visit, on December 19th 2006 the Executive Mayor, Councillors and officials will be sharing words of encouragement and sympathy with little children who will not be home for Christmas.

This kind gesture was made possible by Meeg Bank and Buffalo City Municipality employees who answered the call by the Executive Mayor to give to those less privileged than themselves.

Speaking about this gesture, Mayor Peter said that it is important to cultivate the art of giving, as in the act of giving; we also learn to appreciate what we have. "We all take for granted what we have and by the simple act of giving, I believe we can bring immense joy and comfort to someone who does not have."

Turning her attention to the event to be held on December 19, Mayor Peter said that she would hand out toys, as well as, share a few comforting words with children in hospital wards around the city. "Children form an integral part of our society, they are the future and with this visit I would like to reassure them that there are many of us out there, that care for them," said Mayor Peter.

According to Peter, the hospitals that will be visited include Grey hospital, Bhisho hospital, Cecilia Makiwane hospital, Nkqubela hospital, Fort Grey hospital and Frere hospital.

"The kind donation from Meeg Bank and toys from Buffalo City Municipality employees is appreciated, "said Peter, adding that approximately three hundred children who will benefit from their generosity. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Meeg Bank for their R10 000 donation, and all Buffalo City Municipality employees who donated a toy to the Executive Mayor's Toy Drive, -we could not have done it without them."
