OVER the next two weeks, the East London Fine Art Society is exhibiting works by some of the city's best artists at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery.
The exhibition, which opened on Thursday, November 24, is one of the society's three annual exhibitions. It has invited all Buffalo City artists to exhibit their work.
Acting curator Zola Mweli says the exhibition is among the highlights of the year. "It is very exciting because we get different types of artists exhibiting a variety of work, and this gives art lovers a chance to view some great art."
The society hosts three annual events, starting with Anything but Painting, the Peep Show, and the annual exhibition. The annual exhibition is the last in the list with renowned artists like Barry Gibb, Chanelle Steude and Tony Durrheim displaying some of their best work.
"These are all very good artists, but we also have young artists like Xolela Mtshutshane exhibiting their work for art lovers to see."
Mweli says the society uses the annual exhibition to show existing talent and unearth new talent. It gives young artists an opportunity to exhibit alongside some of the city's established artists.
Some of the paintings on show include Steude's oil-on-board work titled "Honey Euphoria", Patrick Julius's acrylic-on-board work "The Exchange", Xolela Mtshutshane's "Aloe" and Charles Felmore's oil-on-canvas "Waterfall Farm".
The exhibition closes on Saturday, 10 December. For more information contact the gallery on 043 722 4044.
