NOT even the threat of torrential rain could stop people attending the popular annual two-day Port Festival, held at East London's harbour over the Easter weekend.
The festival - one of East London's biggest holiday attractions - didn't disappoint, with local residents and visitors from further a field enjoying the variety of entertainment.
There was basketball, boxing, bowling, an inflatable boat race, and Formula 1 powerboats to thrill the sports lovers. A jazz festival provided the music, and a beer garden saw to the thirst.
A special entertainment section was set up for the youngsters where clowns impressed the children with their tricks.
The most popular section with the children was the Reptile World. Here, for just R5, youngsters got the chance to become acquainted with some of the world most impressive snakes.
Another attraction was the camel ride. While the youngsters rode on the camel they were taught more about the desert creatures.
A mobile library was also on site to encourage young people to read.
For the speed merchants the excitement was provided by the F1 power boats, which reached impressive speeds of 250km/h while, for the faint hearted, a stroll around the crafts, ceramic objects and jewellery stalls was a safer option.
Festival junkies were amazed by the feats of one entertainer, who balanced heavy objects - a table, a fridge and a lawnmower - on his chin.
The highlight of the Port Festival was the arrival in port of the coastguard vessel, the Sarah Baartman, and the South African navy minesweeper, the SAS Kapa.
Fun was had by all - until the rain set in and everyone scampered for their cars to head for home, where they'll patiently wait until next year.
