Councillor Phumzile Tywala dies

JUST 10 days after losing long-serving Deputy Mayor Des Halley, Buffalo City is now mourning the death of councillor Phumzile Tywala, who passed away on Saturday, 14 August.

Tywala, an African National Congress proportional representative councillor died after a short illness. He worked as a public relations consultant.

Speaking on behalf of Buffalo City, the city's communications manager Darby Gounden said: "Tywala's loss is a sad one for the city and we would like to take this opportunity to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family and friends." Tywala's Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, 19 August at 4pm at the East London City Hall.

His funeral will be on Saturday, 21 August at the Mdantsane Indoor Sports Centre.
