IDC to help
develop beachfront
7 October 2003
The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has offered to work with Buffalo City Municipality to develop the city's beachfront to make it more attractive to tourists visiting East London, the Daily Dispatch reported today.
According to the newspaper, the development of the beachfront would improve its contribution to tourism. This, in turn, would assist in economic growth and job creation.
Phila Xuza, Buffalo City Municipality's local economic development and tourism general manager, told the newspaper that the city had been looking for partners to help develop its assets, create jobs, grow the economy and enable people to earn better incomes.
"The IDC will assist with establishment of the planned Buffalo City Development Agency, which is expected to first tackle the beachfront development," said Xuza.
Xuza told the Daily Dispatch that the idea was "to make it easier for the city to pull in much needed technical and financial resources for projects that flow from the Integrated Development card."
