The Spatial Development Framework for Buffalo City has been compiled to support the development vision, and objectives and strategies identified in the Buffalo City Municipality's Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
In terms of Section 26(e) of the Municipal Systems Act (Act No. 32 of 2000), the Spatial Development Framework is a legally required component of the Municipality's IDP.
The Buffalo City Spatial Development Framework has the status of a statutory plan, and serves to guide and inform all decisions made by the Municipal Council on spatial development and land use management in the area to which it applies.
