THE Municipality hereby wishes to announce the appointment of Councillor Sakhumzi Caga as the new Executive Mayor of Buffalo City Municipality with immediate effect.

This follows a motion that was tabled in the last Council meeting for 2008 held at the City Hall on December 09.

The motion was put to a vote moving towards the removal of Former Executive Mayor Zintle Peter and was subsequently endorsed by the majority of councillors.

Also appointed as Council Chief Whip was PR Councillor Sonny Du Plessis. Du Plessis has been the Chief Whip for the ruling party.

Caga has extensive experience having been with council for seven years as PR Councillor. He holds an Honours Degree in Public Management obtained from the University of Pretoria.
