Key documents

Buffalo City Municipality is constantly planning, reviewing and implementing the way forward. In terms of national legislation, municipalities are required to produce an annual integrated development plan and budget. These outline the municipality's priorities and spending plans to achieve certain goals. Some of the documents that drive these processes can be found by clicking on the links below:

  • Medium Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework 2012/13
    The Medium Term Expenditure Revenue Framework Budget for Buffalo City is prepared in compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act. This is a financial plan as informed by the municipality's strategic plan (IDP) in order to ensure service delivery to the community that will enable the municipality to meet its operational and strategic objectives in a stipulated period.

  • Youth Development Strategy 2005 - 2007
    THE Buffalo City Municipality is determined to ensure that its young residents are catered for.
    With this in mind, the City has drawn up a Youth Development Strategy. Among other things, it aims to ensure that young people participate in government and civic affairs, become economically viable and help uplift themselves and their communities, and reduce the effects of HIV/Aids.
    The municipality worked closely with its young constituents and organisations that work with young people, to draw up the strategy.

  • Buffalo City: Developing a comprehensive HIV and AIDS Workplace Strategy
    The municipality is determined to tackle developmental issues and provide social support services for all of its people. Among the innovative steps taken has been the research into the impact of HIV and AIDS on the municipality's workforce - the first ever undertaken by a local government - and on the community. The findings informed the development of the strategy.

  • The State of Sanitation Report
    Buffalo City Municipality is faced with growing challenges relating to sanitation and wastewater management and, in an effort to deal with this, it has prepared a Sanitation Policy and Strategy. The process was co-ordinated by the Integrated Environmental and Sustainable Development Unit as sanitation is a multidisciplinary sector involving environmental, engineering, microbiological, health, social science, planning and financial specialists.
