Mayoral Bursary Fund
THE Buffalo City Municipality (BCM) Public Participation and Special Programmes Department has set about developing criteria for a BCM Mayoral Bursary Fund. This initiative is in keeping with the BCM Youth Development Strategy Implementation Plan, and the announcement by the BCM Executive Mayor during the 2007/ 2008 State of the City Address that BCM has committed an amount of R3 million for youth development within the municipality,
The aim of the bursary fund is to financially assist ten (10) students from disadvantaged backgrounds each with a bursary. The bursary fund is intended to assist students with funding towards registration, tuition, study materials and accommodation. Each applicant will be measured against a set of criteria and as such, bursaries will be granted on merit and will need to be applied for on an annual basis.
